Red Dragon Cartel

Hey rock fans....I heard a new tune by Red Dragon Cartel this past weekend that blew me out of my fucking shoes for a couple of reasons.  One ....well, simply put, Redeem Me is a fucking rocking tune.  Second it features my girl Sass Jordan.

Red Dragon Cartel is the new band featuring Jake E. Lee, prior guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne.  Bark at the Moon...remember that little ditty?  Well, though the writing credits went solely to Osbourne, Jake E. Lee and Bob Daisley were major contributors to the composition of that song in addition to the performance of it! Jake E. has been a contributor to many projects since those days with Ozzy and they all lead to the awesomeness of Red Dragon Cartel.

Montreal, Canada's own Sass Jordan is not a member of Red Dragon Cartel but an outstanding featured guest vocalist!  I was blown away to hear Sass's incredible vocals featured on this album mainly because, though a Canadian icon, many of my American friends haven't had the pleasure of hearing her.  Not surprising really...not many of our Canadian talents break through into the American music market...shame really...you guys don't know what you're missing.  So, in doing some research of the incredibly talented Jake E. Lee, I found Sass isn't his only Canadian connection.

Beginning with the obvious his current drummer in Red Dragon Cartel is Vancouver, British Columbia native Jonas Fairley.  I also learned that the first tune Jake E. learned to play on the guitar was The Guess Who's No Time....some of you may remember The Guess Who, that little Canadian group from the 70s and 80s (understated....fucking super group!!).

REDEEM ME

The Red Dragon Cartel is made up of Jake E. Lee, Ronnie Mancuso, Jonas Fairley and Darren James Smith and in addition to Sass they've featured some awesome guest talent on their first album including vocalist Robin Zander from Cheap Trick; Iron Maiden original vocalist Paul Di’Anno; former bassist from Pantera, Rex Brown; Slash’s Conspirator’s, Todd Kearns and Brent Fitz; and Five Finger Death Punch's Jeremy Spencer. Just released earlier this year if you haven't had a chance to check it out...you can take my word for it - Red Dragon Cartel's self-titled first album is definitely worth your listen!  Pick it up and commence rockin out!  Pure rock and fucking roll baby......... ;)

Check out more by Red Dragon Cartel and order their album at > reddragoncartel.com

Shotgun Rebellion

What are friends for if they can't turn you on to new things that you're gonna love?  Maybe a girlfriend lets you know about a great sale on shoes, or a buddy tells you how to pirate the blacked-out game.  Well, my friends tend to turn me on to great new music and then I, being the fucking awesome friend I am (as I'm sure you will attest to), share it with you.  That's the case this week, because my friends Red and Jay from the podcast We're Right, You're Wrong turned me on to Shotgun Rebellion and let me make myself clear, I am fucking turned on!!

Shotgun Rebellion has created and named their unique brand of rock and roll as Outlaw Metal!  I fucking love it!  It fits!  Combining elements of Southern Rock, Country, Hard Rock and Metal they have brought it all together to create a sound that's new and retro all at the same fucking time.  Don't believe me?  Check out their newly released video for Roll On....

ROLL ON

Nowhere near a one hit wonder, Shotgun Rebellion has become an easy and fast favorite of mine and for good reason.  If you need another reason, maybe you should check out more.  Here, let me make it easy for you...

TRAIN OF PAIN

Comprised of Rick Davis - guitars and vocals, Wes Wallace - lead guitar, Johni Walker - drums, and Jon Parr- Bass, I have definitely found 4 rock n roll outlaws to fucking crush on!  I hear Shotgun Rebellion and I close my eyes and imagine these bad-asses rolling into town on steel steeds, long hair and tattooed,  and not only do I get thirsty for whiskey but also for .....well..... that might be a story for The Cat House...... ; )

You can get their tunes here > iTunes.... best fucking 10 bucks you'll ever spend.  And you can stalk 'em on Twitter, Facebook, ReverbNation and YouTube.  You might even find me hiding in the bushes!

Phase Reverse

Okay hard rock and metal fans, pack your fucking shit, we're goin' to Greece!  Why Greece?  Because they fucking know how to rock it fucking hard there....or at least there are four men there that know how to rock it fucking hard!!

I heard Phase Reverse for the first time a couple of weeks ago on one of my favorite online podcasts, We're Right, You're Wrong with Red and Jay.  This week Red interviewed a couple members of the band and played a few more tunes and well...I was fucking hooked!  Listen to the show and the interview here > wererightyourwrong.com.

Phase Reverse is based out of Athens Greece and consists of Alex killin it on drums, Chief kickin it on Guitar,  Dragon-K keepin it even on Bass, and Takis Mark knocking me the fuck out on vocals.  Their sound is a blend of hard rock and heavy metal that takes me back to my headbanger days.....in fact I may have hurt myself while listening to them....I gotta learn to remember my spirit may still be 17 years old but my fucking neck isn't.

These rockers have two full length albums recorded and it was hell for me to try and pick one song to share with you.  Born to be Dead is from their second album, Phase II.

BORN TO BE DEAD

Greece is full of ancient ruins, remnants of majesty long since crumbled.  Now we know there is still one rock formation that stands fucking strong in Athens and they call it Phase Reverse........ ; )

Phase Reverse is based in Greece but they are all over the fucking web!  Visit their website at www.phasereverse.com for more info and to catch all their links!

Seven Day Vengeance

I had the worst day yesterday....well, no, I guess I'm exaggerating...I've definitely had worse days.  Maybe a better a better description would be I had a "bad hair day" even though my hair was probably the best part of it.....well, no, I guess I'm exaggerating again...the best part of it was discovering and listening to Seven Day Vengeance!

Canada fucking rocks and Seven Day Vengeance is fucking proof!  This is the kind of rock that really gets me off....always has been.  Hard crunchy riffs, amazing vocals and lyrics and an incredible bass line.  They are another band I'm fucking having trouble finding info on.  They're on facebook, twitter, reverbnation, bandcamp, and youtube and all I can find is that they're from Hamilton, Ontario and their music....though that's not really a bad thing.

I do definitely hear layers in their tunes and I wonder how much of their music is one man.....again, not a bad thing.  Hell, the first Foo Fighters album was all Dave Grohl....he put the band together after he recorded the album.  Anyway....you gotta check em out!

A WAY TO BEGIN

And that's the soft slow stuff....head on over to their bandcamp page and check out their album....I promise if you're a hard rock fan, you're gonna fucking love what you hear......... ; )

New Beginnings for Jason Webb and Born & Raised

I came across a piece of bad news....well, I guess it depends on your perspective, but on first read, to me, it was bad news.  Jason Webb, the voice and front man of Born & Raised - kick ass metal band out of Texas - has decided to leave the band.

That being said, it does not mark the end of Born & Raised or of Jason Webb's music career but it will mean changes.  Some bands have been able to keep their sound with a new lead singer...AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Genesis, just to name a few, so it will be interesting to see who the boys choose to take the lead.  Whether it will lead to a seamless transition or to a whole new dynamic and sound.

Jason's powerful voice, I'm sure, will lead him to success with whatever project he gets involved in.  So who knows?  Maybe it is good news?  I guess we will have to wait and see.  In the meantime, Jason is staying with the band to help find a new lead singer, help with the transition and keep booking commitments.  The guys, through social media, have demonstrated class and respect with this decision.  If you're looking for drama and trash talk you're gonna have to look elsewhere.

I'm going to share one of my very favorite songs....and not just one of my very favorite songs by Born & Raised, but one of my very favorite songs period!  This is a live version of Morning Glory and it kicks fucking ass!

MORNING GLORY (live)

So....if you happen to be in Texas and you also happen to be a kick ass singer that likes hard rock and metal, you might want to get in touch with Born & Raised.  Now that I'm getting used to the news, I have to admit I'm a little excited for all the guys.  After all, every new beginning has to come from some other beginnings end............. ; )

This is Born & Raised facebook link > https://www.facebook.com/bornraisedband .  Singers can find their contact info there.  Fans can post their well wishes for Jason Webb and the rest of the band.

Keema

Well kids, grab your bags, we're heading around the world again.  This time the destination is Denmark....and let me tell you....those Danes know how to fucking rock!  Keema is the perfect example of that!

Not sure how long these guys have been rocking together but their sound is tight and judging from the videos I've watched, they have a fucking great time performing together.  If you're into hard rock you'll want to check out Keema.

HATE

Okay...I'm not sure why I would choose a song titled Hate to blow out 2013 with....perhaps there are some Freudians out there that can analyze that one.  Anyway, boys and girls, Happy New Year!!  I'm hoping you'll make me proud and turn it up - blow 2013 out the fucking door and bring in 2014 hard and loud....... ; )

Check out more music by Keema at www.reverbnation.com/keemamusic

Burden of Sanity

Not that I listen to too many dudes that tell me their right and I'm wrong but Red and Jay lured me into listening to their podcast by tempting me with a kick ass band interview and prizes.  So, Monday night after listening to the Rock and Roll Report, I was online anyway and decided to give We're Right, You're Wrong a listen.

Well, I'm fucking glad I did!  And for a number of reasons! First...they are fucking funny.  Anyone who makes me laugh gets my attention and support...and Red and Jay have a natural banter and a great sense of humor.  Second...they're opinionated.  I like that in a man...gives me a reason to argue...er debate...with him.  Third....they were hosting a contest that was fucking giving away kick ass music!  Fourth...I fucking won!

Burden of Sanity is a hard rock/alternative metal band out of Miami.  What I really like about them is they don't sound like anything I've ever heard before.  Which really shouldn't surprise me as their influences (whom I'm a fan of as well) Killswitch Engage, Tool and the Deftones liked to push creativity through their own original styles.  And well, let's face it....if it rocks, I fucking like it....and Burden of Sanity fucking rocks.  Here....take a lisen....

EASE THE PAIN

I have it good authority that they are about to release a CD....well, because I fucking won one...so visit them on facebook > https://www.facebook.com/Burdenofsanity or on ReverbNation > http://www.reverbnation.com/burdenofsanity to find out how to get yours!

And before I go....I gotta tell you to check out Red and Jay and their podcast We're Right, You're Wrong recorded weekly.  You can find it here > www.wererightyourewrong.com.  Oh and follow them on twitter....their handle is @yesweareright.  They're saucy little fuckers but I'm sure you'll like em as much as I do...... ; )

Bash The Band

The secret behind social media is to get into the right circles....follow and friend those who are gonna turn you on to what you're fucking interested in.  One of my most intelligent follows is the Epic Texan out of...well, Texas, duh!

This man has turned me on to the best independent hard fucking rocking, blow your fucking mind music coming out of Texas and well, yeah he fucking did it again!  Yesterday, in a post directed to all his friends I'm sure, but I took it to mean me, he told me I HAD to follow Bash The Band!  And as  usual, he was absolutely right.  These boys fucking rock!!  But why should you take my word for it?  Well, because I fucking know great music, that's why....but of course I'll give you a taste for yourself.  This is Bash The Band!  Turn it the fuck up and get those horns high rockers!!

BASH THE BAND

I know, I've said this before, but I truly have to get my ass to Texas.  Holy shit, it is fucking happening there!  The list of artists in that state that are a must see is getting pretty fucking long and now it includes Bash The Band!  If you're in the area, you gotta friend and follow the Epic Texan on facebook and twitter respectively.  He's constantly posting events that I fucking wish I could go to, featuring excellent hard rock and metal artists from the Texas area!  Get to those fucking shows and rock out...support that local music!  And who knows? Perhaps one of these days you'll catch me there too!   I'll be the drunk blonde up front....... ; )

You can find Bash The Band all over the fucking web....facebooktwitterreverbnation, youtube and of course at their own website www.bashtheband.com

Black Water Rising

Okay boys and girls, hold on tight to whatever you can get your hands on because the tide is rising and it's gonna fucking rock you.  Fuck it....let go and let Black Water Rising drown you in their brand of traditional hard rock!  You may not know it yet but I can fucking guarantee that if you're a hard rock fan, you're a Black Water Rising fan.

Here I was, spending a quiet moment having my morning coffee, going through my twitter feeds when I came across Black Water Rising.  I clicked their link, listened to a couple of their tunes and was fucking blown away.  Now I'm full of energy, excitement and yeah, maybe a little horny too!  Okay, okay...... A LOT horny.

This band turns me on!  Their style definitely gives me hope that rock music is not only still alive but is fucking kicking asses and taking names.  Full of heavy guitar riffs and vocals that were made for hard rock, Black Water Rising has no need for gimmicks or crossover styles.  They are pure fucking rock and roll and I'm fucking liking it.  But I digress, here, take a listen for yourself......

NO HALOS

You can find more info on the band, along with more videos, merchandise and links to stalk them on their website at blackwaterrising.com.  They've inspired this rock and roll angel to trade in her halo for a set of horns.  \m/(>.<)\m/ Horns up bitches ............... ; )

No Operator

There's no better way to start your morning than with a cup of coffee and some fucking kick ass rock n roll. So grab a cup of joe and ready your ears for  No Operator!

I've been a fan of the band since I heard about them about a year ago and I was lucky enough to catch No Operator live earlier this year at the Cambie in Nanaimo.  It was a fucking killer show and you can read about in my blog post No Operator can Trace the Sky and Carry the Storm posted on July 4, 2013. So I was super excited to hear them on the radio this week thanks to Mike Lang of 106.9 The Wolf (the best fucking rock station on the island) and his radio segment "Fresh Tracks" which airs on The Wolf every Sunday evening at 6:00 pm Pacific Time.

Getting radio play is big for any band...especially one that is just starting to establish themselves.  Even if it is only one song during one segment.  I have no doubt that this is just one more step in the right direction for Ollie and the boys of No Operator.  The first step of course is to record killer tunes...they have that one down to a science.  Check out No Operator and their youtube vid for State Your Allegiance.....

STATE YOUR ALLEGIANCE

For more info on the band visit their facebook page at www.facebook.com/nooperator.

So there!  You've had your coffee and infused your senses with some great hard rock.  The world is yours for the taking, go out and get it....... ; )

Fatal Instinct

Okay, I'm a little ashamed....I've slipped in my duties as Metal Goddess...I can't fucking believe that I have been missing out on the band I'm about to tell you about for a whole fucking year!!  And they're just across the strait from me!  Well, I have been redeemed because I'm now connected with and fucking blown away by Fatal Instinct, Heavy Fucking Metal rockers from Langley, British Columbia.

I've said it before, Canada rocks....and now it's rocking even fucking harder with Fatal Instinct on the scene! I took a listen this morning after making a connection on linkedIn with James Buhs, the power voice that fronts this fucking kick ass band and became an instant fan!  Fan...fuck that...follower, servant, slave....whatever you call it when you discover the deity that brings you to your knees in worship.

For those of you who are shy....you may want to cover up because these tunes are going to grab you by the fucking balls!  For more info on Fatal Instinct give their facebook page a visit at facebook.com/fatalmusic666.  Their experience and talent speaks for itself.  Just fucking listen and get ready to fucking rock....HARD!! Horns up bitches......... ; )

North Til Dawn

I've often said I like my music like I like my liquor and men.....Hard!  Well, I gotta fucking get myself to Texas because they seem to have an abundance of all of the above.  This of course includes kick ass hard rockers North Til Dawn.

North Til Dawn blends the radio friendly sound of modern rock and kicks it up a notch with hard rock guitars and killer drum beats.  Lead singer, Blake McColloch has the perfect voice to drive this band to the top of the charts....it'll fucking happen, believe me!

Doesn't hurt that they're fucking sexy either....what can I say? ......I'm a sucker for a man with long hair! Go ahead, check em out.  Here's their official video for Separate.

SEPARATE

I can't break these chains that bind us now....oops, caught me singing.   You can find more information about these hot Texans at northtildawn.com.  While your there, pick up their debut EP, just released in April of this year....you won't be disappointed! Oh and North Til Dawn....feel free to chain me up anytime........ ; )

Love and a .38

Well rock and roll fans, brace yourselves for a shot of something fucking powerful!  Love and a .38 is locked and loaded and ready to blow your minds.  This kick ass band will definitely appeal to fans of Motley Crue, Hinder and Three Days Grace with their fun and sexy brand of hard rock.

I have to thank my twitter friend Sidney Peck (@CinemaProfound) for turning me on to Love and a .38.  I've been rocking out to their tunes all day.  I was so impressed that I clicked my way into iTunes to pick up their EP and I can't wait to depart with more of my money to support this kick the fucking door in, get the fuck off the couch and on your fucking feet band!

Not long ago I watched a W5 (Canadian news magazine TV show) segment that spoke about the power of music....that when we hear music that appeals to our own personal taste, we can't help but move.  Well, Love and a .38 appeals to my personal taste because I've been moving, shaking, tapping feet and fingers all fucking day - guess I can skip my workout today. Thanks Love and a .38, you're way more fun than aerobics!

Hailing from Los Angeles they've been gaining fans from all over the world.  They take their business seriously and as an independent band they've been making all the right moves.  As well as writing and performing incredible music they have excelled in using social media to it's full potential - getting their music out there and heard by those who appreciate it most....the fans.  Their fans appreciate their effort, they in turn appreciate their fans and it's showing in their gaining success. Check em out for yourself - here's their official video of Rock'n Lola.....

ROCK'N LOLA

Doesn't hurt they covered Canadian artist Corey Hart's Sunglasses at Night either....I can like that song again and still be cool!  They can be found all over the web - twitter, facebook, soundcloud, reverbnation, youtube, iTunes and of course their own website www.loveanda38music.com (catch all their links from here).  I know this because I happen to be stalking them on all of them.  This is one band that I want to stay on top of - and not just in a dirty way................ ; )

Play That Funky Music

Well, rock and roll fans....we got a twofer happening this week!  That's fucking right....one of my favorite bands just released another youtube video!  Gift of Destiny out of Arizona has done it again, releasing a video of their cover of Play That Funky Music.

I made a comment recently on another blog (Alan Cross) how I loved original music.  I also mentioned that when bands performed covers that I get off on them so much more when they put their own personal spin on the song...essentially making it their own.   My previous post featured a video by Gift of Destiny covering Punk band Agent Orange's song Bloodstains, and oh hell yeah, they made that song their own!  Well, they've gone and fucking done it again - this time with one of my favorite songs, Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music.

Gift of Destiny kept the funk, but made it rock even harder!  Filming this video from a number of live shows on an iPhone....yeah you heard me, a fucking iPhone........it was shot and edited by up and coming filmographer O.T. Ashton....no, I don't know O.T. either but I have a feeling we might be seeing more from this film maker in the future!  Here, check it out.....

PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC

This song was released as a single last year....and yeah, I have it on my iPod....fuck....apple is fucking everywhere, isn't it?  Anyway....I fucking love this band - their originals AND their covers.  I probably don't need to mention that I wouldn't mind getting under the covers with this band.....but I will......... ; )

Screaming Eagles

Well, I've mentioned them in a couple of previous blogs but it's about fucking time I talked exclusively about this hard rocking, soul driving, ass kicking band!  The Screaming Eagles are one of those bands that you listen to for the first time and become an instant fan.

Anyone who appreciates hard rock must absolutely, without a fucking doubt check out the tunes that the Screaming Eagles are blasting out.  One word of advice though.....TURN IT THE FUCK UP!!!! Hahahaha....like I have to tell rock fans to turn it up.....

I don't have a lot of information about this Belfast band....just that they're relatively new, they're from Belfast, they're made up of Chris Fry on vocals, Adrian McAleenan on guitars, Ryan Lilly on bass and Kyle Cruikshank on drums and they fucking know how to rock!!!!!

Oh yeah....another thing....they've released their debut album From The Flames and it's available for purchase at http://www.screamingeagles.bigcartel.com/.  I highly recommend clicking the link and purchasing it right now!  But perhaps you're thinking, "Why should I take your word that they rock?  How do I know I'll appreciate it?"  Well, first....when have I ever steered you wrong before when it comes to fucking cool music (especially rock) before?  And second, fucking listen to this, doubter......

Still a doubter? Think anyone can put out one great song? Doesn't prove anything? Fuck off...here's another sample......

These guys are definitely rockin my world.  Their music and style has got me so turned on that I'm thinking perhaps....if they ever come to Canada....they'll give me the opportunity to rock theirs! ....oh shit, there I go using my outside voice again.......... ; )

Born & Raised - Ghosts of Tomorrow

Is there a better way to spend Easter Sunday than diving into the depths of great metal music?  I don't fucking think so!  And you know me....if I'm gonna rock out, I'm gonna rock out to the best!  It didn't take too many clicks of my mouse to find a great metal band out of Texas.  Fuck, I really have to get to Texas one day because those boys fucking know how to rock hard!

Born & Raised is a prime example of how to do it right!  At first listen I was hooked.  They have that hard rock metal sound with a touch of blues rhythms that turns me on in a way like nothing else.  Electric guitar like it was meant to be played, drums that keep the rhythm without getting boring, and those fucking vocals that awaken the darkest part of my soul, yet lift me back into the light.

These boys have gone through a number of member changes and as you listen through their music library, you can hear the evolution of this band.  I've only heard a few songs by this killer band and already I'm craving more!  Fuck it.... here listen to this while I visit bornandraisedband.com to buy this fucking hard hitting CD, Ghosts of Tomorrow.....

Okay, I'm back....my credit card hardly dented at all yet my CD collection improved greatly by the addition of Born & Raised.  I know this won't be the last time I'm raving about this band as I hear they're working on new music right now between live gigs.  Fuck I'm cool.... and you can be too when your blasting this music out of your speakers.........; )

Oblidian

Are you one of those people wondering what the hell happened to metal?  Remember the greats we used to rock out to? -uh, excuse me....still fucking rock out to - Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc.... Well, that kind of metal is making a huge comeback.  How could it not?  It's fucking great music.  There are many retro heavy metal bands out there, putting their spin on a sound that's been rocking our world since the eighties.  One of the best that I've heard recently, oops, let me correct that...One of the best that I have EVER heard is Oblidian.

Rapid Healing is the first song on their first album, self-titled simply Oblidian.  Take a listen and try to fucking disagree with me....

These guys have a sound that is all their own but is still reminiscent of the greats of the past mixed in with some greats of the present  and that's just their first album.  Their second rocks even harder.  If you're into hard rocking metal like Disturbed and Mudvayne, you have to check out Oblidian II!  Get in the fucking pit!! Here comes Feed the Rage!

Lucian Tu, musician extraordinaire, writes and plays all the music as well as produces.  He produced both Oblidian albums...hey record labels, wake the fuck up and take note.  Michael "Mudpig" Moreno writes the incredible lyrics and lends his voice, oh, that by the way is fucking made for metal music, to make up Oblidian.  Thus far they are a recording band, but I have it on good authority that they've recently took on a bass player, Jon Reed  - y'know ...in case you were wondering where that killer bass was coming from -  and are working their way to perform live!

I've purchased both albums because bands that have this much fucking talent deserve to be supported.  That being said, if you follow them on facebook at facebook.com/oblidianmusic you'll find they're always fucking giving away tunes!  Rock and fucking roll baby.......... ; )

One Bad Son

I always get excited to hear new music...so excited in fact that I will often seek out new music online.  I hear about new bands through social media and recommendations through friends.  There are a lot of really talented rockers out there, many of which unfortunately will never hit traditional radio airwaves....and that just fucking sucks.  Some though, through perseverance, hard work and of course a little bit of good luck will.

That being said, a couple of weeks ago I was on my way to a friend's house and listening to Nanaimo's best rock station, 106.9 The Wolf, when I just about drove off the road with excitement. Over the airwaves I heard a very familiar sound...a favorite sound!  They were playing One Bad Son!!!

I heard One Bad Son for the first time online over a year ago...they fucking rock!  They originally come from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan but have relocated to one of Canada's rock capitals, Vancouver, British Columbia.  I was blown away by their sound!  Fuck it....don't take my word for it...take a listen.  This was the first song I heard by them - Retribution Blues!

Now anybody who knows me well knows I love all music but my heart beats for hard rock and blues. One Bad Son does a great fucking job of melding these two genres - so of course I bought up everything they had released at that point - two full length albums and an EP.  As I listened it just got better and better.  One Bad Son first started as the embryonic child of Shane Volk's fucking awesome vocals, Adam Hicks' incredible guitar licks and Kurt Dahl keeping the beat on drums.  It was just the three of them that brought together their two first albums Orange City and This Aggression Will Not Stand.  Well, they haven't stopped there. With the addition of Adam Grant on bass, One Bad Son has truly been born and breathing life.  Together in September of 2012 they released their self titled full length album, produced by Default's Danny Craig and released by 604 Records!

There is no dispute that these boys rock hard but that doesn't mean they don't have a deeper side.  Scarecrows is one of a few songs that One Bad Son slows downs a little to spotlight that particular side and it was the song I heard on the radio as I drove.  Here, take a listen....

There is not one fucking song on this album that I don't absolutely love.  It's one of those albums I can play over and over and never tire of it.  If you're a fan of hard rock music, you MUST add this album to your music library!  As the lyrics of She's on Fire suggests "you can't stop what you can't slow down" there is no stopping One Bad Son from going all the way!  I can't fucking wait to see them play live!  Hope you like Tequila boys........... ; )

To check out and keep up with what's happening with One Bad Son, check out there website at www.onebadson.com.   You can catch their links and buy their tunes there!

Wishes Do Come True

Ever since the brutal disappointment of not seeing a shirtless Sully Erna last fall at the Godsmack concert in Calgary, I have been wishing on the early star every night for a shirtless rocker.  That may sound a little sexist slutty of me, but fuck it, I don't care.....we all need a little flesh.
I've been to many rock shows since Godsmack last fall, and have had a great time at every fucking one of them.  And my wish has come true twice!  I didn't have to wait long for the first time... October 27,  Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters gorgeous sexy drummer, stripped off his to expose rippling strong biceps and smooth pects at the Scotia Saddledome in Calgary AB... omg that was good!!
But as good as that was, a shirtless Taylor Hawkins on the Big Screen in Calgary cannot compare to the spectacle I beheld in the intimate setting of the Medicine Hat Esplanade and Heritage Arts Centre on July 19th!  First let me tell you about the Esplanade in Medicine Hat... it is an intimate theatre that doesn't quite hold 800 spectators (that's right 800 is not a typo).  The acoustics are beyond great and the small intimate venue is starting to attract some very big names... as a matter of fact, Chris Cornell recorded at least one (maybe two) of his songs from his live Songbook album at the Esplanade.  Big names such as City and Colour (I was at that show... see my blog post Dallas is Worth the Green for more), Alice Cooper and Snoop Dogg, but never in a million years would I have guessed that Slash would play such a small venue!  Well, he did!  And even though the tickets to his show sold out in a couple of minutes (if that) I was one of the lucky ones to score a pair!  Fuckin A doesn't even begin to describe how I felt about that accomplishment!!
For those of you who are not familiar with Slash... first, where the fuck have you been? ...he is the guitar fucking god formerly of Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver as well as having a very successful solo career performing with many artists including Myles Kennedy of  Alter Bridge.  It was with Myles Kennedy and a very hot band - The Conspirators - that he played with at the Esplanade.  I was in the balcony and to put it into perspective for you, it was comparable to 5th row floor seats at any other venue!  It was fucking unreal... even though I couldn't reach out and touch them, I almost felt as if I could, they were that close!
The show opened up with Canadian rockers, Monster Truck and they blew us away with their hard rock/alternative style.  These guys are making quite a name for themselves here in Canada and I have no doubt they will be driving their sound into the hearts of fans around the globe before too long... here take a listen!

After a short intermission Slash, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators took the stage... talk about hot fucking rockers!! I was practically panting!  Hell, who am I kidding, I wasn't practically panting... I was literally panting!  I have mentioned music and musicians turn me on, right?  But don't take my word for it... check it out for yourself!

It was an incredible show!  Myles is as an amazing singer as Slash is on guitar.  When they performed Velvet Revolver's Slither I couldn't stop myself from headbanging and the crowd went fucking crazy when they performed Guns N Roses songs Sweet Child O Mine and Paradise City.  It was Slash himself though, that made my night when for their encore he came out on stage shirtless!  He was fucking beautiful bare-chested in his jeans and tophat! Sigh... it still gets my panties and mouth wet when I think back on it!  The Esplanade is way to small and intimate for anything like pyrotechnics but the show was ended with cannons bursting and blowing tons of silver and black confetti into the air!  It was the most fucking awesome spectacle I had ever seen.  And THAT, boys and girls, is what rock n roll is fucking all about...............; )

Hard to Get

It's kinda funny how the universe gives us subtle hints about the choices we should make.  If we would only pick up on those hints and heed the universe, how much easier would our lives be?  Now, I know there are some of you out there that love a challenge, love to prove the universe wrong and no matter how difficult the task is or how many obstacles are put in your way, you will plow through it, all the time saying, if it's worth anything it's worth working for... and some of the time you're actually successful and you kick its ass!
It's been my experience though that the universe is usually right... Let me use my very best friend as an example.  The day she applied for a job she went to print her resume and the printer jammed.  After spending many precious minutes she didn't have unjamming the machine, she finally got it printed.  With resume in hand, she set off across her yard to apply for the job (it's a very small town...the workplace is right next door to her home).  Resume in hand that is until the wind (we get a lot of strong winds here) ripped it out of her hand sending the pages scattering across the vast parking lot.  She successfully scrambled around and retrieved her cover page and resume.  Wind whipped and out of breath, slightly damp and crumpled resume in her hand she rushed into the building to apply for the job with a nagging feeling in her mind that somebody was trying to tell her something.
She got the job.... then spent the next 2 years on workers comp because of injuries she suffered on the job.  The last one being a vehicular accident (a really bad one, she actually died in the hospital momentarily) leaving her with limited mobility in her shoulder (the accident had pushed her shoulder into the middle of her back.... yeah ouch) and hips (broke her pelvis in several places).  She of course suffers from chronic pain as well.  Granted this is an extreme example but it kinda makes you think that maybe the universe knows what it's talking about, doesn't it?
Now I didn't listen to the subtle hints the universe sent me before I married both my husbands, which may be why I divorced both.... in those cases the universe kicked my ass.  And now the universe is sending me hints about my next love... yes that's right... the universe is warning me against Sully Erna!
I first started falling for Sully (sexy front man for Godsmack) the first time I heard Godsmack.  When Godsmack first came out I was living here in rural Alberta... unfortunately hard rock did not appeal to the main demographic - farmers, and back then they were never played on the local radio stations.  As for TV we had an antennae which brought in 5 fuzzy stations, not including MTV or MuchMusic.   I didn't hear them until we put in satellite TV and I started listening to music on satellite.  Voodoo was the song and Sully's vocals paired with the sexiness of the bongo drums heated my blood...got my juices flowing so to speak.

Oh yeah, that was the start...loving Godsmack for the entity it was... not individualizing Sully at that time.  I could relate to a lot of their songs and I really got off on that.
Now, some of you who may know me now and also know Godsmack music might say, "Oh no Cat... you are way to sweet to relate to the darkness and negativity in the hard rock of Godsmack."  I grew up in an unstable and abusive home... my first marriage was abusive... I have been surrounded by alcoholics and drug abusers for a lot of my life.  I'm sweet because I choose to be, not because my experiences made me that way... I can very much relate to the negativity of Godsmack songs... they just express those darker feelings for me.
Then came the DVD... The album Good Times, Bad Times included a DVD and I laid eyes on Sully for the first time... did it just get hot in here? No? It's just me?  Lust at first sight to say the least!  It was filmed in an intimate setting and there was opportunity for the audience to ask questions.  I listened as Sully easily and jovially answered his fans and that was it for me... I was in LOVE.  By the end of the DVD I was joking with my kids, who are also Godsmack fans that Sully was going to be their Stepdad at some point in the future.
But now I'm really starting to wonder if it's meant to be... I think the universe might be trying to tell me something.  You may have read in an earlier blog of mine, click here >  Summer of Rock .... that I attended a Godsmack show last fall.  Now I don't know if it was too cold or what, but Sully never once took off his shirt!  Apparently the show they did in Dawson Creek, BC later that month that my niece was at, he never had his shirt on! < Sign from the universe #1.  I was also backstage at that show and didn't get to give Sully a blowjob...uh, I mean a kiss... I never even got to give him a kiss! < Sign from the universe #2.
My kid had told me about a book Sully had written.  Of course already being in love with the man, I figured I should get to know him better... I looked for it in Canada... book stores and online to save international shipping fees but it wasn't available anywhere in the country! < Sign from the universe #3.  By the way, I did order that book from the states... I wrote a blog about that too , click here to check it out > Will This Cat Cross His Path?
Now I'm excited again because on May 15, Godsmack is releasing their live album Live and Inspired and I'll be able to re-live the concert experience over and over!  A majority of the album was recorded at their Detroit Rock City show...and I'm bettin that Sully had his shirt off for that one too...with some tunes taken from their Boston show.  No doubt both of these shows were killer!  I read in their newsletter (which you can sign up for on their website) that they were selling pre-sale packages, that included all kinds of music and merchandise.  I tried to order a t-shirt and CD but I kept getting an error message on my order and my order was never placed! < Sign from the universe #4.  Being a quick thinker and very resourceful, I did pre-order without incident on iTunes... no t-shirt though....oh well.... it'll give me something to purchase the next time they come around.
So...do I listen to the universe, who is obviously telling me that Sully isn't the right man for me?  Do I take my experiences and learn from them, ultimately saving myself from heartbreak and misery?  I probably should...ah fuck it...Sully, if it ever comes down to it...the answer is yes, of course I'll marry you baby....... ; )
