Satch in Vancouver

When it comes to electric guitar playing, one name stands out as being one of the best players in the music industry.  Okay...maybe more than one.  In fact, Jimi Hendrix might be the one that comes to mind first and it was his life and death that inspired a 14 year old Joe Satriani to put down his football and pick up a guitar.,

Devoting his life to his craft, Mr. Satriani, affectionately known to his fans and peers as Satch, has not only created great music but also great musicians.  Early in his career he made his living as a music instructor and taught such greats as Kirk Hammett of Metallica, David Bryson of Counting Crows, Larry LaLonde of Primus and the list goes on.  Many of you now know him as the shredder behind the super group Chickenfoot.

Well, not to fucking brag or anything, but I was lucky enough to see him perform live from the front row of the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver over the weekend!!  As much as I love great lyrics, I also love the sound of an electric guitar.  Quite often at home when I hear a guitar sing, I'll close my eyes and let the music lift me on a cloud of sound and carry me away.  One of the hardest things I may have ever done, was keep my eyes open through this concert so I could watch him play.  His music is powerful and beautiful and I found it very difficult to stay aware and not to get lost in it.  Here's an example of what Satch gives to a live audience....

SATCH BOOGIE

It's an experience I won't soon forget and I have a special friend to thank for it.  It was his suggestion and his treat.  Thanks again darlin.  Hope you come back soon............ ; )
